Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder.
Sleep apnea is characterized by interruptions in breathing during sleep. These pauses can last from a few seconds to over a minute, leading to daytime fatigue, irritability, and a range of health concerns. OSA is often caused by a blocked or narrowed airway, which may result from poor tongue posture, enlarged tonsils, or other anatomical issues.
How We Can Help:
Through targeted exercises and myofunctional therapy, we work to strengthen the muscles of the airway—particularly the tongue and soft palate. This helps maintain an open airway during sleep, reducing the frequency and severity of breathing interruptions.
Benefits:
- Reduces the severity of sleep apnea symptoms in both children and adults
- Enhances cognitive function, mood, and overall health through more restful sleep
- Greatly increases the effectiveness of CPAP therapywhen used as part of a treatment plan
