Mouth Breathing

When the body can’t breathe properly through the nose, it compensates by breathing through the mouth.

This can happen for many reasons—like chronic nasal congestion, allergies, or anatomical issues such as a deviated septum. Poor tongue posture also plays a role. When the tongue isn’t resting on the roof of the mouth, it can’t help guide proper nasal breathing. Early habits like prolonged bottle feeding or pacifier use can also contribute to mouth breathing patterns.

How We Can Help:
Mouth breathing limits oxygen intake because the nose is specifically designed to filter, warm, and absorb more oxygen than the mouth. Over time, this can also lead to changes in facial growth, dental alignment, and overall health. Through myofunctional therapy, we retrain the tongue to rest on the roof of the mouth and support consistent nasal breathing—all day and night.

Benefits:

  • Encourages nasal breathing 24/7 for better oxygen flow
  • Boosts energy, focus, and overall well-being
  • Supports healthy facial growth and oral development
